Ready for Redsfest 2019
It's
the most wonderful time of the offseason for members of Reds Country! Redsfest
2019 will happen this weekend at the Duke Energy Center. Cincinnati Reds fans
from all over the country will gather for the one of a kind fan fest that
celebrates the very first franchise in Major League Baseball history.
The
fun gets started on Friday, December 6, and will continue through Saturday,
December 7. Fans can buy passes for either one day or both. In order to get the
full Redsfest experience, I recommend purchasing the two day pass. If you are a
Reds Hall of Fame and Museum member or a season ticket holder, your two day
ticket pass is free.
Once
you check in at Redsfest, you will receive a Reds lanyard to hold your ticket
as well as a free Reds swag bag with a free gift inside. Past gifts have
included a winter hat, socks, and an ornament. After you check in, you can
finally enter the convention center and behold the glory of the Redsfest event.
Inside
are tons of Reds memorabilia such as jerseys, autographs, bobbleheads, and even
the World Series Championship trophies. There is a stage area where you can
watch Reds Family Feud, ask the players questions, and get your picture taken
with the mascots. There is a game area, wiffle ball fields, and booths where
you can get your picture taken with players. You can play Redsfest Bingo and
participate in the Reds Community Fund Poker Tournament that features current
and former Reds players.
It
wouldn't be a fan fest without autographs, and the signing sessions are my
favorite part of Redsfest. You can get autographs from current players and Reds
legends. There are multiple signings happening at the same time throughout the
event so you are pretty much guaranteed to get at least one autograph during
your time at Redsfest.
I
cannot wait for Redsfest 2019. I have a free two day ticket because of my Reds
Hall of Fame membership, and I plan on being there from open to close on both
days. I'm hoping to get a lot of autographs and maybe a few bobbleheads if I
can find some good deals. If you see me, come say hi!

Reds Rockin' 150
The Cincinnati Reds are in the midst of their 150th
Anniversary season and to celebrate, they will be throwing a party on July 5
that will be sure to rock the Queen City. The Redlegs will host Reds Rockin'
150 at Great American Ball Park. The event is a combination open house,
concert, fan fest, and fireworks show to celebrate the first ever professional
baseball franchise.
Doors to the stadium will open at 5:00 pm and the event is
scheduled to conclude at 11:00 pm. At 8:00 pm, a concert featuring Phillip
Phillips, X Ambassadors, and Three Doors Down will start and will be followed
by a fireworks show to close out the event. There will also be other live music
options before the main concert starts including a performance by the Bronson
Arroyo band.
Aside from the music and fireworks, fans will also have the
opportunity to meet Reds players and alumni, run the bases, take a few swings
in the Reds batting cages, and check out exclusive areas of the ballpark.
Mascots and circus performers will also be scattered throughout the stadium for
additional entertainment. Available concessions in the stadium will be 50% off
as well.
Tickets to this event are free, and at the time that this
post was written, are available on the Cincinnati Reds website. I think this is
a great way to celebrate the very first professional baseball franchise in
history, and the fact that it is free should be more than enough reason for
every member of Reds Country to try and attend. There will be live music,
current and former Reds greats, fireworks, and 50% concessions. Kudos to the
Reds for hosting this event and further cementing Cincinnati as a baseball
town.

My Redsfest 2016 Experience
Redsfest is the massive fan fest that the Cincinnati Reds
hold every December. It is a great way for fans to meet some of their favorite
Reds players of today as well as some of the future stars of tomorrow. Throw in
a couple of legends from Reds teams of yesteryear and you have an epic weekend
that is like heaven on Earth. I was fortunate enough to get to go to Redsfest
again, and I will share my thoughts on this year’s edition in this post.
When it came to autographs, I did pretty well. I managed to
get over 30 autographs from past, current, and future players. In terms of
players signing autographs, the selection was pretty good. There was a good
balance of players spanning many generations to get autographs from and the system
of obtaining autographs that the Reds organized for fans worked well for the
most part. I was able to get the signatures of Dave Parker, Glenn Braggs, and
Nick Senzel among others.
The only autograph complaint I have is of how the Lou
Piniella autograph signing was handled. It seemed that word had gotten out of
when Piniella would be signing, and the line for his autograph booth was
already full before it was officially announced that he would be signing
autographs. This was really unfair as it prevented everybody from having an
equal shot at getting Piniella’s autograph. Hopefully that does not happen next
year.
I also really enjoyed the exhibits. There were some game
used memorabilia to check out and buy, the Redsfest main stage with Q and A
sessions and game shows, and the Reds Hall of Fame section with the World
Series trophies and bobbleheads are just a few of the exhibits Redsfest had to offer. There is a lot to look at
and immerse yourself in at Redsfest, and I highly recommend going on both days
in order to get the full Redsfest experience.

In conclusion, Redsfest 2016 was another great event that
was well executed by the Cincinnati Reds. There were autograph opportunities,
the chance to meet some of your favorite Reds players, and the two-day
celebration of Redsfest is one that every true Reds fan should experience.
Hopefully I can go again in 2017!

My Redsfest 2015 Experience
Redsfest 2015 came and went this past weekend and like last year, I loaded up my Cincinnati Reds back sack with baseballs and spent my entire Saturday at the Duke Energy Center meeting former, current, and future stars of the Redlegs while soaking up everything that the annual December event had to offer. If you are a Reds fan and have not yet attended a Redsfest, then you are missing out on a fantastic experience. I have been multiple times and each year I have a blast. The event is a Cincinnati Reds fan version of paradise as it features awesome exhibits, opportunities to meet some of your favorite players, and pick up some sweet Reds memorabilia. The event takes place usually during the first Friday and Saturday in December. I was only able to attend on Saturday and even though I was only there for one day, I still had a great time. In this post, I will discuss some of my favorite elements of the 2015 edition of Redsfest.
My absolute favorite part of Redsfest is getting autographs. Despite only going on Saturday, I still came away with a pretty good haul by obtaining 13 autographs from 13 different former, current, and future Reds players on 13 different baseballs. I love getting to meet them and talk to them for a little bit while they kindly write their name on one of my baseballs. I was most excited to get the autograph of Joe Oliver. He was the catcher for the 1990 wire-to-wire World Series Championship Reds. You can see his autograph as well as the other autographs I obtained at Redsfest on the “Autograph” page.
Another cool element of Redsfest I enjoy is all the exhibits. There are a ton of things to see such as the World Series trophies, game used equipment and memorabilia, and interviews with past, current, and future Reds players. There is a lot to soak in and in order to get the full Redsfest experience, I recommend going both days. My favorite exhibit is the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum section as it features a massive amount of Reds history and chronicles the careers of some of the all-time greats to have ever put on a Reds uniform.
The atmosphere of the event is another fantastic feature of Redsfest as it seems that nearly everybody there is in a great mood. Everybody I talked to and interacted with was very pleasant, and the players I met genuinely seemed happy to be there. It is really cool to see a huge amount of people gathered in one place to celebrate Reds fandom, and it is even cooler that the players actually seem like they want to be there.
In conclusion, my experience at Redsfest 2015 was amazing. I always have a great time and this year was no different. Getting autographs, checking out the exhibits, and being immersed in a world in which Redlegs culture is abundant is always fun, and I cannot wait to go back. Hopefully I can go for both days next year and once again get lost in the world of the Cincinnati Reds.
