Bengal Shows 2018

With the 2018 NFL season officially underway, the opportunities for fans of the Cincinnati Bengals to get autographs are popping up each and every week in the form of Bengal shows. Bengal shows are shows where fans can get autographs from Cincinnati Bengals players, and I have attended at least one show a week in hopes of snagging a signature for my Bengals autograph collection. In this post, I will discuss the two Bengal shows that take place each week.

The first show of the week is “Benagls Line.” It is held at the Holy Grail on the banks in Cincinnati the day after Bengals games and can be heard on ESPN 1530. The show features radio personality Lance McAllister and former Bengals player Dave Lapham as the hosts and goes from 6 pm to 9 pm. The show has undergone a format change as now only one guest player is feature as opposed to two players like previous years. McAllister and Lapham will discuss the game from 6 pm to 7 pm and the player is interviewed from 7 pm to 8 pm with the final hour being mainly more discussion between McAllister and Lapham. Players sign autographs during commercials and there are raffles throughout the night with the prizes ranging from Bengals apparel to Bengals tickets.

The other Bengals show that takes place during the week is “Bengals Pep Rally.” This is another radio show and is hosted by Dan Hoard and Dave Lapham. This show takes place on Fridays throughout the season from various Buffalo Wings and Rings restaurants throughout the greater Cincinnati area. It goes from 3 pm to 6 pm and a player will join Hoard and Lapham during the 5 pm hour. Like Bengals Line, the guest player signs autographs during commercials and prizes are raffled off throughout the show.

Those are the only two Bengals shows that I am aware of that are happening throughout the 2018 NFL season. This is less than previous years as Beyond the Stripes and Bengals Nation are no longer filmed in bars and have been moved to studios. Also, the format change of Bengals Line means 16 players instead of 32 will be available for autographs. The lack of shows this year combined with my training camp absence means that my series of “Bengal Graphs” videos will be cancelled for the 2018 season. I have decided to save my autograph football for next season and head to the Holy Grail for Bengals Line only when the guest player is somebody who is missing from my autographed Bengals banner.

Bengal Shows 2017

With the 2017 NFL season officially underway, the opportunities for fans of the Cincinnati Bengals to get autographs are popping up each and every week in the form of Bengal shows. Bengal shows are shows where fans can get autographs from Cincinnati Bengals players, and I attend at least one show a week in hopes of snagging a signature for my Bengals autograph collection. In this post, I will discuss three of the Bengal shows that take place each week.

There are usually two guest players who are interviewed during the first two hours of the show. One player is interviewed from 6 pm to 7 pm and the other is interviewed from 7 pm to 8 pm with the final hour being mainly discussion between McAllister and Lapham. Players sign autographs during commercials and there are raffles throughout the night with the prizes ranging from Bengals apparel to Bengals tickets.

The second show of the week is “Beyond the Stripes.” This show is presented by the Cincinnati Enquirer and is held at the Holy Grail. The show is streamed live on the Enquirer’s Facebook page from 7 pm to 8 pm and features a panel of four reporters interviewing the guest player before playing a game with the player to end the show. The interviews are always entertaining and usually feature a few laughs as some of the questions asked by the panel and answers given by the players are over the top. Once the show is finished, fans can line up and have one item signed by the player.

The third show of the week is “Bengals Nation.” This show is held at the Moerlein Lager House on Wednesdays from 6 pm to 8 pm and is presented by television station Local 12. It is filmed in segments and is broadcasted on Saturdays. The show has gotten worse in my opinion as its move from the Holy Grail has really cut back on the interaction that the show used to have with the fans. The area in the Moerlein Lager House where the show is filmed is a lot smaller than the Holy Grail, so some of the segments, such as fans asking the guest player questions and some of the games, have been eliminated. Once the show is finished, fans can get an item signed by the guest player only if they have an autograph pass. The autograph passes are handed out in the beginning of the show, and if you do not get there early enough to get an autograph pass, you will not be able to receive an autograph.

Those are the three different Bengal shows that are held throughout the week. They are a great way to not only get autographs but to also interact with fellow Bengals fans. “Beyond the Stripes” is my favorite show as it is easily the most entertaining of the three. I would say that “Bengals Line” is next with “Bengals Nation” being the least enjoyable show. They are all still fun to attend though, and I highly recommend checking out a few for yourself.

The second show of the week is “Beyond the Stripes.” This show is presented by the Cincinnati Enquirer and is held at the Hofbräuhaus in Newport, KY. Holiday Autographs

If you are a Cincinnati sports fan, then the holidays are a prime time for you to snag some autographs from some of your favorite Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals players. Most people take time off from work during the holidays and if you are one of those lucky people that get a holiday break and would love to meet some of the best athletes on the diamond or the gridiron during your holiday vacation, keep reading as I will discuss the various sports shows that take place in Cincinnati which allow you to meet players from both the Reds and the Bengals.

On Mondays, ESPN 1530 broadcasts “Bengals Line,” a Bengals radio talk show that takes place at the Holy Grail bar in Cincinnati from 6 to 9pm. Lance McAlister and former Bengals player Dave Lapham are the hosts, and during the first two hours of the three hour show, they will interview two current Bengals players. The show typically features one player from the offense and one from the defense, and fans are allowed to get autographs from the players during commercial breaks. I have been multiple times and have gotten the autographs of A.J. Green, Andy Dalton, and Carlos Dunlap among others.

The Holy Grail is also the site for Reds Hot Stove League on Tuesdays from 6 to 7pm. This is a Cincinnati Reds talk show in which Reds broadcasters such as Marty Brennaman and Jim Kelch will interview a Reds player. Guests have included Devin Mesoraco and Michael Lorenzen among other past and current Reds players.

On Tuesdays at the Moerlein Lager House from 7 to 8pm, the Cincinnati Enquirer broadcasts their web show called “Beyond the Stripes.” This is my favorite Bengals show to go to as it features a funny panel of Bengals reporters who really interact well with the guest player. Unlike the other Bengals shows in Cincinnati, “Beyond the Stripes” supplies fans with pictures of the guest player that the guest player will sign. The pictures look really nice and are a fantastic addition to any Bengals fan memorabilia collection. Guests this season have included Giovani Bernard, Jeremy Hill, and Tyler Eifert.

On Wednesdays, Bengals fans can head back to the Holy Grail for the taping of “Bengals Nation.” This is a Bengals show that is made by CBS affiliate Local 12, and it is aired on Saturday nights. The show features question and answer sessions, a trivia game, and the opportunity for autographs from a guest player. Since this is a taped TV show, it is filmed in segments and doesn’t really give a talk show like feel. It is still a fun way to meet Bengals players though, and I have gotten the autographs from multiple Bengals players and personnel such as Marvin Lewis, Chris Carter, and Paul Guenther.

On Fridays, the Bengals radio talk show called “Bengals Pep Rally” is broadcasted from various Greater Cincinnati area Buffalo Wings and Rings restaurants usually from 3 to 6pm. Dan Hoard and Dave Lapham host this show and during the last hour of the broadcast, they will interview a Bengals player who will sign autographs during commercial breaks. I have gotten the autographs of players such as Mohammed Sanu, Ryan Hewitt, and Will Clarke from “Bengals Pep Rally.”

Those are all the Reds and Bengals shows in Cincinnati that give fans the opportunity to attain autographs from some of their favorite players. They are a lot of fun to attend and if you have time off during the holidays, I recommend you go. You will be able to eat some good food, meet players from the Reds and the Bengals, and be engrossed in the Cincinnati sports culture.

Who Dey and go Redlegs!
